REWRITING AND SCRIPT DOCTORING

Rewriting is not a major challenge for us. With almost 30 years producing, directing and shooting experience we have seen the good, bad and the ugly of the script world.

We have successfully fixed script problems on the set. It is, however, a much better idea to make these fixes before the whole production crew is standing around "on the clock" waiting for this to happen.

Listening to the client, organizing the flow of an idea and structuring the script to entertain and/or inform is the major task. We have the tools and experience to make this happen.

Most produced films are rewritten to some extent during the development process.

There are two approaches to the rewrite; "page one rewrite" and "polish" or "punch-up".

PAGE ONE REWRITE

When a script's central premise or characters are good but the script is otherwise unusable, we can do an entirely new draft.

POLISH OR PUNCH-UP

When only small problems exist, such as bad dialogue or poor humor, we will fix these problems.

The first step is the

REWRITE ANALYSIS.

Our rewrite analysis service is a comprehensive look at all aspects of the script. This allows us to estimate how much time and effort will be involved to do the actual rewrite.

The Rewrite Analysis includes reviewing premise, plot, sub-plots, act/story structure, genre factors, character development and dialog. This allows us to isolate trouble areas and map out the approach to fix the script.
