SCREENPLAY FORMAT & STYLE ADAPTATION

The reason for format and style in a script is legibility and comprehension.

Format and style give a producer a story in its most filmic form and include all aspects of a screenplay, with the exception the story itself.

In the industry, production companies initially judge a screenplay by quickly flipping through the pages and looking at the format. It's referred to as "fanning" in the industry. If the format is no good, the screenplay gets tossed and the reader moves on.

We can convert your script, including the two column TV-Documentary style script, into the traditional screenplay format containing both necessary aspects:

The interplay between typeface/font, line spacing and type area, from which the standard of one page of text per one minute of screen time is derived and the tab settings of the scene elements (dialogue, scenes headings, transitions, parentheticals, etc.), which constitute the screenplay’s layout.

With the script in proper screenplay format it is now ready to become a shooting script and the bases for the budgeting and scheduling process, as well as broken down for casting, call sheets and location, property and wardrobe lists.
